It’s that time again. My “Best Of” for 2023. This is a list of some of the best content that I consumed this year.

So, here’s my “Best Of” for the year 2023:

Top 10 Best Movies of 2023

10. Beau is Afraid

The definition of “polarising”. This A24 movie from Ari Aster starring Joaquin Phoenix is one of those movies where you either like it or don’t. There is no in between. I for one enjoyed it. But it's definitely not for everyone.

9. They Cloned Tyrone

This movie did not get the attention it deserved thanks for “Barbieheimer”. Nevertheless, this Netflix movie is a definite must watch.

8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

Marvel has not been on a great role this year for sure but this last installation of the Guardians of The Galaxy definitely makes up for it for the lacklustre content from movie.

Emotionally, action packed and funny, GOTG Vol.3 is a gem in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

7. Talk to Me

Another A24 gem, “Talk To Me” really surprised with how good it was. So many hidden metaphors in this “horror” movie by first time directors. Really enjoyed it.

6. Anatomy of a Fall

I’ve had been waiting for a while and it didn’t disappoint after watching. If you like court room drama, this will be up your alley.

5. Rye Lane

I’m a sucker for rom-coms but this was a “black” rom-com which I adored. We need more of these kind of movies for sure.

4. Across the Spider Verse

After the first Spider Verse movie, we didn’t think the sequel could top it. But we were so wrong. Across the Spider Verse is one of the most gorgeous, animated movies I’ve ever watched.

3. Oppenheimer

In Nolan We Trust. This “biopic” about Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the nuclear bomb”, does not disappoint. It will be winning multiple Oscars at the awards for sure.

2. Killers of The Flower Moon

At 3 hours 20 mins, you could be intimidated to watch Killers of The Flower Moon. But it's worth it. Martin Scorsese knows cinema, and this is one of the best stories of 2023. Absolutely brilliant and haunting.

1. Past Lives

My number one movie for the year is an A24 movie. One of the simplest stories from my list and yet so heartbreaking at the end. I shed tears at the ending. Past Lives is my number one for 2023.
