Poem: Words Of Nothingness

These words mean nothing
They are as hollow as barrels in the street
Echoing and reverberating and dispersing into the wind
When she spoke to me of love
I could see through the facade
Knowing she reeked of infidelity
The stench of another man on her lips
Preaching to me a gospel which was soiled with untruth
Like a preacher with an addiction to falsehoods
Her words meant nothing
But I swallowed her poison pills like a patient
In need of pain relief
Ingesting her placebos
knowing the effects would be negligent
Her words meant nothing
But my fear of loneliness hesitated my exit
It prolonged my escape
So I listen everyday
Waiting for the day
Till I’m convinced her words
have meaning
